Leamington Lemmings Ultimate

Structure of the Session

Before the session

When Possible, Links to Pre-Watching materials will be posted with the COVID Form (The COVID form must be posted on the day of training )

Warm-Up

The Lemmings Standard Warm up is summarised in the Warm-Up Document

Introduction Drill

All sessions should begin with an Intro Drill

The aim of this drill is to get people throwing to a moving target, increasing the intensity in the session following the warm up and lots of reps for each person. The Intro drill does not have to tie into the session aim or other drills, but it is often possible to select an Intro drill which will allow us to practice the skills needed in the rest of the session.

A list of appropriate Drills are available in the Broken Link

***Up to this point should take 30 minutes ish***

Introduction to the session aims

Aims of the session should be made clear, the overall theme and the specific focus’ that we’re trying to work on.

E.g. Theme – Resetting the disc, Focus’ – Making an early decision, Engaging the dump, Aggressive dump throws to lead and gain an advantage.

Drills

Suggested

2-3 Drills 10-20 Mins per Drill  Aim for atleast 1 level of progression per drill
  • Get straight into the first drill which will enforce the session aims.
  • It is advised to run a small demo
  • For any drill lasting more than 5 minutes, there should be a layer of progression added to the drill at some point during it's duration. If there is no progression possible then the drill should still be paused and the focus restated along with any suggestions for improvement around half way through.

Games

  • Game time should be 40-80 minutes of the session
  • We currently run a Mixed and Open split for games on a Monday.
    • The advice is to split the male players into 4 even teams and the women in 2 even teams.
    • Half of the game time should be spent playing open and the other half playing mixed for the male teams. The women should remain on the mixed pitch for the full duration of the games.
  • On Fridays the decision is yours as to how well you think a mixed/open split will work. If you don't opt for a mixed/open split consider starting off on smaller sided games to encourage everyone to get involved more before moving into 7v7
