The club has found itself in a very rare and very exciting situation.
In case you missed it, back in April Lemmings sent a mixed team to EUF Spring Invite in Italy where they finished 2nd after a hard-fought final. On the back of this, the club has officially qualified for EUCF (European Ultimate Club Finals).
This is a terrific achievement not just for the players that competed, but also for the club as a whole as it shows demonstrates just how far we have come over the past few seasons, qualifying for only the second time in the club’s history.
How do we move forward?
Trainings!
for the rest of the year will begin to focus on specific game situations and strategies applicable across all Lemmings teams. We are aiming to create a style and identify that all members of the club can buy into and develop at together. There will be less focus on developing core skills and there is an expectation that when you are at training you are focussing on your core skills and leading your own improvement by holding yourself to high standards.
There is an expectation that if you wish to play UKU Regionals / UKU Nationals with the club that you are making a big effort to be at as many trainings as possible now we are approaching the crunch time for the season.
There are plenty of opportunities to develop outside of training, it is up to you figure out how you can supplement our training sessions to best develop as an athlete. I am hoping to be able to provide an idea of some self-conditioning that you can do at home as well as some example throwing routines that you can complete with a partner or solo.
The remainder of the Mixed season:
Mixed Tour “The one where we all play mixed” – Birmingham
UKU Regionals – Manchester
UKU Nationals – Nottingham
EUF Club Championship – Poland
Selection
As a club we have made a very active decision not to trial for this season and this will continue to be the case moving through to the end of the season. As such an assessment of players for the team will be made on an event-by-event basis where roster restrictions allow.
Selection will be made by the captains based on a number of factors largely centred around attitudes and performance at training across the season, buy-in to the style and structures of the club, consistency at events while representing the club, and suitability for the roles available within each of the squads.
Players that have competed for Lemmings at earlier events in the season or in previous seasons are not considered to be "on the team" nor are they guaranteed to be offered a spot for any specific events.
Along with the spreadsheet sign-up for UKU Regionals, everyone who has signed up by the deadline will be given the opportunity to respond with a team preference for the event as well as the ability to say they are only wanting to play in one of the 2 divisions the club intends to enter.
Selection for UKU Regionals / UKU Nationals
Due to some rostering restrictions, there is reduced flexibility around transferring between teams and between divisions across events, in these cases further availability may be considered around squad selection.
Upon selected for UKU regionals & UKU nationals it will be made explicit to each individual if they are intended to be invited to EUCF in October.
