Statement of Intent:

We will be continuing to train regularly in Leamington on Monday evenings 7-9pm, this training will remain open to everyone for the full season. At training we will look to build fundamental skills and develop a cohesive playing identity and key principals the team will play by.

Slightly different to last years training structure, we will be putting more emphasis on building and developing playing style, building chemisty and cohesion at Monday training as well as weekend sessions.

We are looking to host approximately one weekend training per month, as requested at the AGM.
Weekend training sessions will be a mix of open invitation, specific squad trainings and closed invite sessions.

There will not be a trial for any of the squads for the 2023 season, however selections will need to be made for tournaments that are expected to be over subscribed and sign ups to some events done by invitation.
Attendence and performance at Monday evening training and weekend sessions will both be a consideration at selection as well as intended playing commitment for the rest of the season

We are working with other local teams to provide even more playing opportunity so that everyone can gain experience at more convenient locations and at a lower cost than a full tournament.
We intend to give as many of these opportunities as possible to meet demand.

Training in 2023:

We will continue to train on a Monday evening every week through the year. There is an expectation that if you intend to play competitively with the club that you should be making an effort to attend these sessions

Alternating weeks of skill and team tactical sessions will provide a good balance of personal development and building a strong team playing identity

Skills Sessions: A rotation of coaches leading on specific skill development. These sessions will adress common weaknesses and provide an opportunity and an environment in which you will have the ability to work on the sessions key skills and experiment with playing positions and structures. At these sessions there will be an altered game format to give everyone equal opportunity to develop and experience.

Tactical Sessions: These will be lead by the club captains who will be focussing on building the playing literacy of the club to develop cohesion and unity within the squad. At these session, specific foci may be given to individuals or groups. The focus of these sessions is to be playing within your desired playing role to develop familiarity with the rest of the club

Weekend Sessions: These are designed to provide high focus and an extended length session for specific team and individual development.

Competing in 2023:

Mixed:

During 2023 we will be competing in the Mixed division of the National League, a top flight competition amongst very strong mixed teams within the UK.

We have also accepted an invitation to compete at the EUF Spring Invite, a weekend competition against elite mixed teams from across Europe. This will feature as a main part of our build up to UKU Nationals with the hope of competing at EUCF in September/October 2023

We are planning to enter all mixed ranking events in 2023 as a fantastic opportunity for our squad members to gain playing experience and continue to develop team style and strategy.

Open:

Lemmings will have 2 open teams competing at all tour events, the first team will be geared at competing at the highest level, selecting players to play within specific roles which allows players to develop and flourish within a competitive environment.

This year Lemmings 2 will be ran by experienced members of the Lemmings Mixed Squad and will be geared towards providing a high level development opportunity for competitive players hoping to compete with Lemmings Open as part of the UKU National Series, This team will be aiming to balance competing at the highest level possible and while giving opportunities for players to develop within their desired playing role within a supportive team environment.

Following a competitive training and tour series, Lemmings Open team will be competing at the UKU playoffs at the end of July with the hope of competing at UKU Nationals again. or Competing at

Womens:

Last year we had huge success at two womens events,

Competing at Windfarm in 2022 [The tier 1 womens event] Lemmings, alongside other talented athletes from local clubs, finished ahead of Womens teams competing at WUCC. Competing at the very last minute Sunrise show down [Tier 2 womens event] we finished a strong second place with a great showing in the final.

Last year showed that there is great demand and huge potential for Lemmings to compete in the division and we hope to push this further in 2023.

This year we will be prioritising competing at UKU Windfarm as a womens squad, this is a big priority for the club in terms of providing opportuity for women in the area and also a super valuable opportunity to build playing cohesion and connections within the squad which will show immense value for the womens and mixed season. Along with this we are hoping to host/ support the running of womens development sessions and opportunities within the midlands.
