Lemmings in 2023 are putting a big focus on both the competitive and development aspects of our open team.
The focus of our teams at events may vary but the overall emphasis on the seasons principals will remain:
- Playing strong competitive ultimate.
- Bring a development mindset, embracing every opportunity to learn from each success and failure across the season.
- Developing a consistent style and approach embodied by all Lemmings teams regardless of division.
- Being a supportive team who build each other up and play for each other; regardless of conditions, opposition or results.
- Give players the opportunity to develop and flourish in their desired playing role.
- Create an environment where all players can push themselves and each other to be the best they can be on and off field.
Lemmings will have a minimum of 1 open team at all open events this season.
At specific events we will be targetting a two team structure:
- The first team will be geared at competing at the highest level, selecting players to play within specific roles which allows players to develop and flourish within a competitive environment.
- The second team will be geared towards providing a high level development opportunity for competitive players. There will be a large focus on playing a consistent style of ultimate between both squads to enable smooth transitions between events for players to compete in both first and second teams.
- The second team will be captained by club captain Nate and other experienced members of the club to ensure that all players are playing in an environment designed to allow them to thrive and develop.
Lemmings Open @ UKU Playoffs
- Lemmings will be taking a proven team to UKU playoffs with the hope of competing at UKU Nationals in August.
- To prepare for this experience we will be holding focussed open training and external scrimmage to give more opportunities for open development.
- Focus at specific tour events will be put on developing a cohesive open team that will then look to compete for UKU Nationals
